At Pilates Haus, we’re constantly inspired by the incredible things our community achieves — both inside and outside the studio.
Carol is one of those people.
As she prepares to take on the French Way, walking up to 20–30km a day across Northern Spain, her journey is one of strength, courage, and stepping well outside of her comfort zone.
A Community That Carries You
“I feel so privileged to be part of the Pilates Haus family. The togetherness and inclusion at South Studio is unmatched.”
For Carol, this challenge isn’t something she’s doing alone.
“It’s the encouragement from the instructors and the community that will fuel me every step of the way.”
Why the French Way?
For Carol, this journey goes far beyond the physical.
“Yes, there’s a physical and mental challenge — but it’s also about stepping away from the busyness of life. It’s a chance to explore personal spirituality and connect with the history of the route.”
The Lead Up: Nerves & Excitement
As the start date approaches, it’s a mix of emotions.
“There’s definitely apprehension and fear, but also so much excitement. I’ve prepared well, and I trust that preparation.”
How Pilates Has Prepared Her
Consistent training has been key.
“Pilates has helped me build strong core, hips and legs to withstand the daily grind and prevent injury. I’m so grateful for the work I’ve put in over the last six months.”
It’s a reminder that strength isn’t built overnight — it’s built through showing up, again and again.
The Challenges Ahead
Like any big goal, this journey won’t be easy.
Physically, Carol expects:• Blisters• Sore feet and knees• Fatigue from consecutive long walking days• The intense climb and descent over the Pyrenees on day one
Mentally, the challenge shifts.
“The Meseta section is long, flat and repetitive. It will take real mental stamina to keep going.”
What She’s Most Looking Forward To
Despite the challenges, the experience ahead is something truly special.
“I’m excited to connect with people from all over the world, hear their stories, and be part of that instant sense of community.”
There’s also something deeper she’s seeking:
“Moments of silence, peace, and the opportunity to experience the culture, food, wine, and history along the way.”
Advice for Stepping Outside Your Comfort Zone
Carol’s advice is simple — and powerful:
“Surround yourself with people who are also pushing themselves. That encouragement makes all the difference.”
“And celebrate the small wins. They build confidence and show you that you’re capable of more than you think.”
